im going to buy a new electric guitar, but idk what to get. i want something thats good for heavy metal, and doesnt cost over 700. any ideas?Need advice about buying a guitar?
im a bassist ,but in one of my bands we play really heavy,low tone material...both guitarist play schecter guitars...actually when our lead guitarist joined he came with an ibanez and a fender...then bought a schecter because the tone was easily achieved with that guitar...and now he swears by it..plus they cost between 300 and 500 (around the price your looking for)...and they look beautiful and mean at the same time......heres the site to check em out,but i know you can get them at a guitar center ....http://www.schecterguitars.com/Need advice about buying a guitar?
Schecter guitars are good and fairly popular in metal.

There's not really enough details to recommend a specific model; whether you're new or been playing a while, want fixed or Floyd bridge, 6 vs 7 string, etc.
Wow - where to start?
The guitar market is so full of great axes that I don't have the space to write to you about, nor do you have the time to read all my comments.
Might I suggest this?
%26gt; prioritize who your favorite metal men are and learn what they use (including strings, picks, amps and effects);
%26gt; go to enough guitar shops and try out different combinations of guitars and amps to get a feel as to what sounds right to you;
You'll have to be the final judge as to what sound you want to create.
By the way, effects pedals are great, but there are plenty of top guitarists that don't use them.
Jeff Beck comes to mind as a person who can really bring out the best in his Stratocaster WITHOUT any effects.
