my hair is long, a little past mid back, its brown with little blonde high lights, with long layers...i want to style it differently than simply keeping it naturally straight...any suggestions?

Here is an example of a waved, long, layered hairstyle

to do this is simple... here are some easy steps
Sepertate the bottom of you hair into 6 parts. 2 on each side and 2 in the back.
Using a big barrel curling iron and simply curl from the bottom of your hair up to your nape.
Dont use any product yet
once all your hair has been curled, shake your hair to loosen the curls and then apply a hairspray over all of your hair.
this will keep the waves looking soft and polished but still allow you to have a strong hold.Advice about hairstyling?
Best suggestion would be to purchase Babyliss U-Curl styler... With this you can create full curls, looses curls, waves or can straighten hair... they are simple to use and reasonably priced. The smaller the section of hair used the looser the curl/wave and vice verser.
PRACTICE PRACTISE PRACTISE!!
Hope this helps. x

If you want to add a little bit of pop to your hairstyle, you could try getting a zig-zag wave. All you need to do is fold a piece of aluminum foil around a section of hair, and fold your hair {wrapped up in the foil} accordion style all the way to your scalp. Take a flat iron on a hot setting, and press down on ur folded hair. Wait around 5-10 secs. depending on how thick your hair is...and let go. Unfold your hair and remove the foil. Your hair should have a zig-zag wave in a matter of seconds! :]
