Arriving Midway Airport with luggage on rollers - thinking about taking orange subway line to Addison Station on the red line. Will trip be problematic because of the luggage (stairs, crowding, etc)? What do I need to be aware of or look out for?Any advice, concerns, warnings, etc about riding subway from Midway Airport to Wrigley Field area?
Nothing in particular - both lines are safe and relatively efficient (though there's some current slow downs on the Red Line heading north.)
All you need to do is take the Orange Line from Midway to Roosevelt - it only goes one way from Midway - get off at the platform at Roosevelt, take the luggage down the elevators (and there are elevators as well as escalators) to the Red Line Subway, take that north (it will be labled ';Howard';) to Addison, and then take the elevators (again, there are elevators) to the street. You're then within steps of Wrigley Field. Quite easy.
Unless you happen to be doing this during rush hours or during a Cubs game, the crowds won't be bad - and even if they are, there are lots of trains running and everyone understands about people with luggage coming in and out of Midway Airport. It won't be a problem.Any advice, concerns, warnings, etc about riding subway from Midway Airport to Wrigley Field area?
You will change on the 'L' at Roosevelt from the Orange line to the Red line and take it to Addison. Both sides of the station are wheelchair accessible, so you can take an elevator from the above ground Orange line to the below ground Red line.
Dereky's answer is good. I would add that you'll experience more trouble with crowding during rush hours if you're traveling on a weekday. Worst case scenario, you'll have to wait for a second train if the first one to arrive is full. Even so, the train will still probably be quicker than a cab at those times...and, of course, cheaper %26amp; better for the environment.
